Every year California about half of the precipitation, and almost all of the flooding, results from just a handful of intense storms... like the "Pineapple Express." At the American Geophysical Union meeting this week in San Francisco, scientists announced the installation of a new network of sensors and observatories to predict how hard these storms will hit.

Bodega Bay will soon be home to the first of four "atmospheric river observatories." KRCB's Danielle Venton has the story.
