Winston Bull

On Air Personality/Show Host - "Jazz Connections"

Winston hosts Jazz Connections on the 3rd and 5th Saturday nights of each month from 7-11 pm.

Winston is a Jazz fan who got into this wonderful art form through its -- and his -- beginnings, growing up with Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, Art Tatum, Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong.  As he progressed so did his music, and he spent more and more of his time with the likes of Miles Davis, Bird, Diz and Art Pepper.  Then he presumably grew up and started to wonder who was out there now.  Now he bounces back and forth from Bud (Powell) to Christian McBride, Wayne Shorter and the late, great Gerald Wilson.  Tune in on the third and fifth Saturdays of the month to see how they all come together to help form this most amazing music.

Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderley, and Wes Montgomery were largely unknown artists until they teamed up with record producer Orrin Keepnews. Orrin Keepnews died on March 1st, 2015, one day shy of his 92nd birthday, leaving one of the most remarkable legacies of jazz recordings in the modern era.
