• The fires burning in Southern California have charred more than 250,00 acres. NASA is testing science instruments intended for space by measuring environmental impacts in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

• California’s minimum wage goes up another 50 cents in January, as part of a law gradually raising it to 15 dollars an hour over the next few years.
