• Delegates from the California Democratic Party over the weekend made no endorsement in the U.S. Senate race. But state Senate leader Kevin de León finished far ahead of longtime incumbent Dianne Feinstein.
• Tony Mendoza sought the party's endorsement for the state Senate seat he resigned from days earlier. Meanwhile, pre-existing party rules forced an endorsement of Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, who's under investigation for sexual misconduct.
