The Civic Role of Public Art

Jan 15, 2014

Three views of the "Cyclisk," a 65 foot tall obelisk made of bicycle parts. It is one of the most recent and most visible examples of public art in Santa Rosa.

The City of Santa Rosa is working on a Public Art Master Plan—for the downtown area and beyond--that will is due to be completed later this year. In connection with that, the city’s Art In Public Spaces program and the Sonoma County Museum are hosting a presentation and discussion this evening that looks at how the city of Oakland has incorporated public in in their downtown revitalization efforts. Today’s Exchange is a talk with the featured presenter at tonight’s event.

Santa Rosa has also put up an online public art survey, and you can find a link to it here.
