Connecting New Farmers with Land

Apr 21, 2015

Sonoma County is ripe with eager new farmers, but very few are able to afford land. The Sonoma County Food Systems Alliance is working to change that.

Sonoma County prides itself on its agricultural history, but high land costs are making it difficult for the next generation of farmers to get a foothold. An alliance of farmers, landowners and public agencies are hoping to change that.

Growing Our Farms  takes place at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds on April 23, 1 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. From the organizers: "A forum to connect farmers and ranchers with land in Sonoma County. To share resources and collaboratively explore opportunities for farmers & landowners (both public and private) to increase the availability of farmland in Sonoma County for food production."
