It’s been half a century since the Beach Boys were at their peak in the 1960s, yet their music endures and surviving members of the band maintain a busy concert schedule. One of them is founding singer Mike Love, whose new autobiography charts the often rocky history inside the band.
With dozens of books about the Beach Boys already published, why another one? Love says he wanted to offer his own unique perspective.
Mike Love will be at Copperfield’s books in Petaluma Monday Oct. 24 at 7 pm, where he will talk about his book with veteran music writer Joel Selvin. Love will return to Sonoma County on Nov 17 when the Beach Boys perform at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa. Below is a video from a 2012 performance in Japan during the Beach Boys 50th anniversary tour, with Mike Love and Brian Wilson sharing the stage (and the video in the backdrop).
