Mandatory water cuts mean changes for California

Apr 13, 2015

Early this month, during the annual Sierra snow pack measurement, government officials were alarmed that snow pack is at just 5% of its normal levels. Snow usually accounts for about a third of California’s annual water supply, but this year things will be different.

In line with Governor Brown's executive order requesting a 25% statewide reduction in water use, Santa Rosa currently has mandatory restrictions in place such as,  outdoor irrigation must occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., no washing down of hardscapes, unless required for public health and safety; no use of potable water for street washing, you must use of shut-off hose nozzle on all garden and utility hoses and others

The city also hosts a number of water efficiency programs, including offers such as "cash for grass" and water efficiency rebates
