Science has shown that the trigger for cancer and other serious illnesses is often exposure to something harmful in the world around us. But translating that knowledge into protective public policy remains difficult. In this report, we hear from someone deeply engaged in that struggle.

A scientific standard that requires "proof of harm" from suspected toxins before preventative measures are considered essentially ensures that the harm will persist. And that disconnect between research and public health policy is something Dr. Devra Davis is determined to address.

Dr. Devra Davis will be the featured speaker at the debut of the Kortum Legacy Lecture Series, presented by Sonoma County Conservation Action at the Finely Community Center in Santa Rosa at 11:30 am on Friday, May 15.  Find further details here while tickets (with lunch included) can be purchased here.
