Salmon Release Planned for Bodega Bay

Feb 8, 2017

Transported by truck from the hatchery where they were raised, young salmon are released into a coastal pen before being set loose into the Pacific to feed and grow. This practice will be introduced in Bodega Bay in May.

Bodega Bay’s beleaguered salmon fishery will get a boost from the release of thousands of smolts there this spring. But the fishermen will have to wait another two years for the fish to grow, mature and return before they can be caught.
