Santa Rosa Police: Evacuation Lifted in Oakmont and Mendocino Ave. Medical Complex 10/17/17

Evacuation lifted in Oakmont and Mendocino Ave. Medical Complex.  

As of 1:00 p.m. today, the evacuation has been lifted for: the Oakmont neighborhood to include all streets south of Highway 12, east of Calistoga Road to Pythian Road. All northbound roads off Highway 12, including Highway 12 eastbound at Pythian Road, will still be closed under mandatory evacuations orders.

Additionally, the evacuation has been lifted for the medical complex located at 3536 and 3540 Mendocino Avenue. All areas within the mandatory evacuation zone around the complex will remain in place. The only access to the complex will be via Steele Lane north to Mendocino Avenue.

There will still be smoke in the respective areas as firefighters continue firefighting operations. If at any time you feel unsafe, please call 911. The public is reminded to stay vigilant on current fire conditions. 

Please continue to adhere to road closures and any evacuation warnings. If you see electrical wires on the ground, stay clear and contact PG&E immediately. Trees and poles with deep charring, particularly if still smoking, should be considered hazardous. 

Please drive slowly and yield to emergency personnel in the area. As you re-enter your property and evaluate damage, be aware that hazardous conditions may exist, particularly if a residence or out-building has burned. Hazards may include asbestos, heavy metals, by-products of plastic combustion and various other chemicals.
