Once a fringe food industry, eating seaweed has become fashionable and mainstream. Increasingly it can be found in restaurant dishes, on grocery store shelves—even as a substitute for plastics. Heidi Herrmann of Strong Arm Farm in Healdsburg is the sole commercial seaweed harvester in Sonoma County. But with a little education, it's something anyone can do.
