Yes...I know...I know I promised...but...what I mean is...wait a minute...I'm...I'm...I'm KEEPING MY PROMISE! Yes, no more three group Somethings...after this one.
And, unlike most of the Something shows, this one is almost exclusively Twenty-First Century! And they are as follows, and in this order:
GREAT AMERICAN TAXI. You'll thrill to hear deathless tunes like Fuzzy Little Hippy Girl, Maud Only Knows and Radiation Blues.
I SEE HAWKS IN L.A. When these guys were asked the origin of their name, they answered to this effect: "Well...The band name was a code, a question, a diffident invitation: if you see hawks, then maybe we should talk."
And, as if that weren't enough, you'll hear Environmental Children of the Future, I Fell in Love with the Grateful Dead, and Big Old Hypodermic Needle.
HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF. Their lead singer, Alynda Segarra, is worth more than the price of admission. And, at no additional charge, songs like Forever Is Just a Day, Hungry Ghost and Crash on the Highway.
And, as promised, a Big Surprise, coming up in two weeks. Some of you will actually remember San Francisco radio KSAN-FM, which brightened Bay Area ears as the classic underground rock radio station starting in the late 60s. Some of you will also remember KSAN's incredible all-night DJ, Edward Bear. Well...in just two weeks...on August 29th, you'll hear a Something Completely Different show containing two hours of music picked personally by Edward Bear for KRCB listeners. Mark it on your calendar!
