Last week's show, the one about Spiritual Beliefs, just about finished me off, until I realized I was not really afraid to face the witless Republicans and the namby-pamby Democrats, and was ready to strike out into the unknown, basing my journey on a star in the east. So I got to the manger, and the entire cast of characters was assembled, including the Virgin Mom, the Three Kings (2 White, 1 Black), and the Angels, who had a difficult time getting used to the strong barnyard odors. Oh, yes, and the baby (I mean - - Baby. Or maybe BABY!) All this crowd lacked was some decent music, and I remedied that quickly with:
Eartha Kitt's Santa Baby. What could be more appropriate than a tune from an album entitled Purr-fect
Elvis Presley's (that's right - The King's) Blue Christmas. We all could use, any time we think about it, a genuine Elvis tune. Look! See the little baby clapping and smiling!
Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer by (who could possibly be better than---) Ray Charles! So what if they don't have reindeer in Bethlehem?
How could we improve on The Wrong Way to Celebrate Christmas? I'll tell you how - - by telling you the name of the performer- - none other than Rev. Edward W. Clayburn (The Guitar Evangelist) - - don't forget the parentheses.
And - - in case that's not enough, all I have to utter are the magic words: Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer by Elmo 'n' Patsy. Nuff said.
