Old ideas and a new generation have combined to revive the Sebastopol Grange, and brought statewide attention to the refreshed agriculture support group.

The upwelling of interest in the Sebastopol Grange is far from unique, says Vice President  Lawrence  Jaffee. The local group is part of a growing trend.

Farming and food has historically been a central focus for California’s granges, adds Jerry Allen. As interest in those subjects has increased in recent years, the sometime-dormant granges have been able to fill a renewed need.

The California Grange will hold its annual convention in Sebastopol for five days, beginning Wednesday. Spokesman Rick Keel says having their event here was an easy choice.
