Be sure to tune in to eTown this week for part one of a special two-part broadcast featuring the legendary singer/songwriter and Grateful Dead founding member Bob Weir, plus Americana artist John Fullbright. While we’ve been lucky to have both artists with us in previous years, this marks the first time we’ve been able to host Weir at eTown Hall’s intimate 200-seat, solar-powered performance space. Join us in eTown these next two weeks for a pair of episodes filled with mind-expanding musical exploration, candid conversations, and plenty of familiar songs to fill the air.

Host Jorma Kaukonen introduces each show's featured artist in a series of concerts recorded at the Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp. An eclectic blend of performances including blues, folk, Americana, rock, bluegrass, and jazz. Featured artists include Chris Smither, Happy Traum, Hot Tuna, It's a Beautiful Day, Roy Book Binder, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Ruthie Foster, Bob Margolin, and many more.

This week - we hear the second set from Bill Kirchen and Jimmie Dale Gilmore in a duo performance recorded April 8, 2017 at the Fur Peace Ranch.

This week on eTown: José González / Mandolin Orange; ECHIEVEMENT AWARD: Ruth Libby

In this back-by-popular-demand airing, eTown hosts Nick and Helen Forster welcome Swedish indie folk artist José González and his band for a first visit to eTown. Also with us is North Carolina-based musical duo Mandolin Orange. It’s a musical combination like no other this week, plus a great eChievement Award story about a woman who is keeping office supplies out of landfills and getting them into the hands of teachers. Be sure to tune in or podcast!

Here is this week's World Café line-up:

Monday, July 31, 2017

Philadelphia's Sheer Mag emerged from a grungy residence called "The Nuthouse" and built a rabid fanbase by playing arena-sized '70s rock to small crowded rooms. They visit World Cafe to share some stories of their gritty DIY beginnings and to perform tracks off their debut full length album, Need To Feel Your Love.
