The Local Assistance Center is a one-stop-shop with critical government services for residents who have been impacted by the fires. Replace lost or destroyed vital documents (ID, financial information, etc.) and get connected with financial support services such as insurance information and apply for FEMA aid. Disaster assistance is available to all members of our community. You will not be asked to show proof of legal citizenship to receive assistance.  

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol are removing a road closure.  Highway 12 is now open between Dunbar Road and Madrone Road, which means all of Highway 12 is open.  No evacuation orders have been lifted.  Glen Ellen is still closed and under mandatory evacuation.  The north and south side of Highway 12 (commonly called the east and west sides by locals) are still closed and under mandatory evacuation.

Monday, October 16, 2017 

11,000 firefighters continued to make good progress on 14 large wildfires  Burning across the State, despite the fact that several new fires ignited. On the current 14 large wildfires over 213,000 acres have burned, an estimated 5,700 structures destroyed and sadly 41 people have been killed. This morning, a private water tender driver assigned to the Nuns Fire tragically died in a vehicle rollover on Oakville Grade in Napa County.

Yesterday, nearly 11,000 firefighters beat back the flames and made good progress towards the containment of now 15 large wildfires across California.217,566 acres have burned in the current 15 large fires, with an estimated 5,700 structures destroyed. Sadly, the death toll has risen to 40 people. As progress has been made on several fronts, many evacuations have been able to be lifted. As of Sunday morning, nearly 75,000 people remain evacuated.

Gusty winds increased early this morning forcing new evacuations and

sparking a new large wildfire in Lake County. Currently more than 10,000

firefighters are battling 16 large wildfires that in total have burned over

214,000 acres. Approximately 100,000 people have been evacuated from

the fires. These fires have been extremely destructive with 5,700

structures estimated to have been destroyed. While crews continue their

Sonoma County Update on Multiple Fires

Update: October 13, 2017; 8:00 P.M.

 

SANTA ROSA, CA – Emergency response agencies throughout Sonoma County continue to fight numerous fires in the County. The County’s Emergency Operations Center remains active and is staffed around the clock.

CAL FIRE continues to release fire activity and containment information at approximately 7:00am and 7:00pm daily at fire.ca.gov. There are 19 confirmed fatalities from the emergency.

As of 6:00 p.m., the following Mandatory Evacuation orders have been reduced to an Evacuation Advisory:

Areas east of Fulton Rd, from Francisco Ave. to Guerneville Rd., to Highway 101, areas east of Highway 101, from Steel Lane/Chanate Rd., to Calistoga Rd. with exceptions of streets leading up to Fountaingrove area where fire damage exists.

Overnight firefighters continued their battle against 17 wildfires that have

burned 221,754 acres. Several of the wildfires merged with other fires, while

full containment was made on three other.

While several of the fires experienced winds overnight they were relatively

light, but a Red Flag Warning has been issued for later tonight when winds are

expected to increase again. Tonight the winds are forecast to be stronger that

Statement from Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools Steve Herrington on School Closures Due to Fire

Oct. 12, 2016  

As we face the many challenges of this fire, I am being asked why schools aren’t re-opening and when they will reopen. I know that families are eager to have a sense of safety and normalcy restored by having their children return to daily routines, so I wanted to explain the numerous reasons that many schools must remain closed for the time being.

California State Parks announced today that it is opening campsites at Sonoma Coast State Park and Salt Point State Park to residents affected by Northern California fires. 

Although not an official evacuation site, campsites will be open to meet the temporary immediate needs of displaced residents. 

Campsites will be available at Bodega Dunes Campground and Wrights Beach within Sonoma Coast State Park and Woodside Campground within Salt Point State Park. Services available at these sites include showers, bathrooms, drinking water and trash bins. 

Missing People:  

Residents can register that they are safe, and loved ones can look for someone who has registered themselves as safe on the American Red Cross site https://safeandwell.org/. Call (707) 565-3856 to report a missing person. If you report a person missing and then locate them, please call the hotline again to report the person found.

Mandatory evacuation orders means it is unsafe to remain or re-enter that area.

Advisory evacuation means residents are under advisory and should consider readying for evacuation should the situation worsen.
