California State Parks announced today that it is opening campsites at Sonoma Coast State Park and Salt Point State Park to residents affected by Northern California fires.

Although not an official evacuation site, campsites will be open to meet the temporary immediate needs of displaced residents.

Campsites will be available at Bodega Dunes Campground and Wrights Beach within Sonoma Coast State Park and Woodside Campground within Salt Point State Park. Services available at these sites include showers, bathrooms, drinking water and trash bins.

Bay Area theater company We Players is known for immersing their audience into the scenes and actions of their plays - often at State and National Parks. In their new production of Romeo and Juliet the company transforms Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park into the hot and steamy streets of Northern Italy.  KRCB’s Tiffany Camhi went to a recent performance of the play.

KRCB’s Tiffany Camhi reports the decision goes against the Commission staff’s recommendation for an outright denial of the fees.
