Advisory evacuation means residents are under advisory and should consider readying for evacuation should the situation worsen.

Agua Caliente Advisory Evacuations

KRCB-FM Radio 91 welcomes The Monophonics to Cloverdale's Friday Night Live at the Plaza, this Friday evening! The street fair opens at 6:00 pm and the music starts at 6:30 pm.
 

Food, beverages and Sonoma County wines and craft beers are available from a variety of vendors and nearby restaurants. Hand-crafted arts, crafts and other locally made items are available at the Street Fair, along with a variety of kids’ activities, to ensure there is something for everyone at Friday Night Live in Cloverdale.  
 

Mixed, Late Results in Sonoma County Elections

The electoral upheaval at the national level was not felt much in Sonoma County’s local races, where big money from Independent Expenditure Committees bought mixed results.

With both houses of Congress and the White House controlled by Republicans going forward, North Coast Congressman Jared Huffman told KRCB Television that he and his colleagues in the Democratic minority will continue to exercise their role as the "loyal opposition," while stopping short of the disruptive tactics GOP lawmakers deployed to thwart the Obama administration.

A Tamer Russian River Flows into Sonoma County

  Most of the public access to the Russian River lies along its lower section. But this week, a group of river stakeholders, are kayaking through that upper reach, an outing organized and led by LandPaths and the Russian Riverkeeper. It was instigated by Sonoma County Supervisor James Gore, to bring attention to the river as a whole, on a larger scale. For the participants, today has been a day off the water in Hopland, filled with “tributary” events about that portion of the watershed.

First Local Solar Purchase for Sonoma Clean Power

  From its inception, one of the goals of Sonoma Clean Power was to support the creation of local renewable energy generation projects. They have now announced a contract to buy the power from their first such project—although it has yet to be built. Bruce Robinson has details.

Meanwhile, the cities of Petaluma and Rohnert Park have until the end of January to decide whether or not they will become part of  Sonoma Clean Power and its various programs. Residents of other parts of the county will be able to be included starting in December.

A Compromise on Cloverdale’s Growth

With an eye to the future, Cloverdale proposed expanding to the west and south, some of which alarmed anti-sprawl activists. But the most provocative part of that proposal has now been reined in.

The new, scaled back Cloverdale Urban Growth Boundary is expected to get final approval at the next LAFCO meeting on July second.  The map below shows the originally proposed Urban Growth Boundary expansion.
