debut

Here is who to listen for this week on World Café with host Talia Schlanger:

Monday, May 21st – Nashville: Ashley Campbell

Ashley Campbell didn’t plan on a music career - she initially joined her father, the original Rhinestone Cowboy Glen Campbell, on the road just hoping for a fun vacation. Fast forward several years and she now has a debut album, The Lonely One. She talks about how studying improv comedy influenced her songwriting and shares memories of her late father.

Join KRCB-FM for WORLD CAFÉ weekdays at 2 pm – here is this week’s schedule:

Monday, April 30th – Chick Corea

Chick Corea is one of the greatest living piano players. On the next World Cafe He tells stories about performing with Miles Davis, watching Thelonious Monk play and collaborating with legendary drummer Steve Gadd on their latest album. Chick Corea, seated at the piano on Monday's World Cafe.

Tuesday, May 1st – Anderson East

This week’s solar-powered musical meeting features an up-and-coming band that is already making waves, alongside a well-established musician who makes his first appearance on the show. Australian folk pop band Oh Pep! takes the stage to share music from the band’s debut release, plus Indiana-born / Nashville-based singer and piano virtuoso Jon McLaughlin shares some of his solo material, as well as a few songs with eTown’s house band – the eTones.

As Colvin & Earle, longtime friends and admirers Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle have united to record their self-titled debut, a true standout in careers already filled with pinnacles and masterpieces. Produced by the masterful Buddy Miller and recorded in his living room studio, Colvin & Earle contains six co-written originals plus inspired covers including the Rolling Stones ‘Ruby Tuesday,’ and Emmylou Harris ‘Raise the Dead.’ Few things can touch the magic of artists so in tune that they seem to be able to read each other’s minds.
