Bernard Madoff may be a fading memory from the past, but for reporter Steve Fishman, the fallen financier’s story holds lessons for today. Madoff masterminded one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in history, duping thousands of investors out of tens of billions of dollars.

His scam rocked Wall Street for years. In this episode of Reveal, we trace the rise and fall of Madoff through Fishman, who spent years interviewing investors, regulators and even Madoff himself from inside federal prison.

Reveal airs every Saturday morning at 8:00 am on KRCB-FM Radio 91.

Community meeting will be held Saturday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m.

Federal, state, county and city leaders will all come together next week for a Recovery & Rebuilding Town Hall in Santa Rosa on Saturday, January 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The Town Hall will be an opportunity for residents to receive updated information on debris removal and what to expect during the rebuilding process in the months to come.

Topics that will be covered at the Town Hall include:

The County of Sonoma and City of Santa Rosa are working with state and federal partners to provide safe, immediate, transitional, and long-term housing to assist residents who were displaced by the recent tragic fires and stabilize the immediate housing crisis faced by residents. It is estimated that nearly 5,000 residential units were destroyed in the fires. At their meeting today, the Board of Supervisors approved leasing 80 existing Recreational Vehicle (RV) spaces at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds to house Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Temporary Housing Units.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is working with local, state and federal partners on the response to the Northern California fires. EPA is leading the survey, collection and disposal of household hazardous waste (HHW) in Sonoma and Napa counties. This work will allow other state and federal agencies to remove ash and other non-hazardous debris and the rebuilding process to begin.

In response to the recent wildfires in Northern California that have impacted the agriculture community, Sonoma County Farm Bureau is convening local, state and federal leadership to address concerns and provide information to rural property owners.

Top intellectual property and entertainment lawyer Peter Afrasiabi joins Suzanne Lang in conversation on his recent book Burning Bridges, America’s 20-year Crusade to Deport Labor Leader Harry Bridges. Bridges was an immigrant, a longshoreman, and a labor leader which was not a good combination in the 1930s. The imbalance of executive power in the federal government of that time resonates with our contemporary situation.
