Monday, September 18, 2017  

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy produced Joan Shelly's latest album.  It was recorded at Wilco's loft in Chicago with Tweedy's son Spencer playing drums on some of the tracks.  On the next World Cafe Shelley talks with David Dye and we hear live sets from Shelley, Canadian duo Whitehorse, and New York rockers The National Reserve, recorded at the 56th annual Philadelphia Folk Festival.  

 

This week’s brand new episode of Mountain Stage marks the return of special guest host Joni Deutsch, and live performances from the Southern soul outfit Marcus King Band, emerging Appalachian troubadour Tyler Childers, singer-songwriters Caroline Spence and Tristen and the classically eclectic pop maestro Kishi Bashi.  

They’re all in live performance on Mountain Stage, Saturday September 16th at noon on KRCB-FM Radio 91.

In this week’s installment of eTown, singer/songwriter and avid surfer Jack Johnson makes a triumphant return to eTown to share some of his latest music in front of the intimate audience at eTown’s solar-powered performance space – eTown Hall.

This week’s episode of Mountain Stage with Larry Groce marks the show’s first trip to the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You’ll hear a set from respected singers and songwriters Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, whose latest album celebrates the wide-open romance of the American railroad. You’ll also hear from acoustic folk-blues master Chris Smither, newcomer Kia Kater, atmospheric chamber folk from LAU, and Houston-based singer-songwriter Robert Ellis.

This week on Ric on the Radio, it's Summer Rock Festival 2017! This is Ric's second summer rock festival. Like last year's show, the lineup features bands who are currently playing the festival circuit. If you didn't make it to one of the over 160 summer music festivals in the U.S., do not fear, Ric's Summer Rock Festival is sure to help you get your lollapalooza on. This year's show features co-headliners Kings Of Leon and Cage The Elephant, along with a great supporting cast: Phoenix, Bon Iver, Broken Social Scene, Hippo Campus and Silversun Pickups. Food, beverages and Sonoma County wines and craft beers are available from a variety of vendors and nearby restaurants. Hand-crafted arts, crafts and other locally made items are available at the Street Fair, along with a variety of kids’ activities, to ensure there is something for everyone at Friday Night Live in Cloverdale.  
 

Popularly known as singer, songwriter and guitarist of Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore was listed as one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” Moore joins us with his blend of alternative, experimental rock and post-punk. Texas R&B and soul duo Greyhounds is also with us, and our eChievement Award winner shares her story of “rescuing” food that would otherwise go to waste to feed the hungry in her community.

This week’s broadcast of Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features fiery picking and beautiful harmonies from one of the very best bluegrass bands of all time, Blue Highway. Rhiannon Giddens also returns with a powerful solo performance that features banjo and beat box. Exciting acoustic band Flatt Lonesome show why they’ve earned multiple awards and nominations in just 5 short years.

 

This week’s Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features a set from genre-bending jam grass heroes Leftover Salmon, fresh off their busy summer festival touring schedule. You’ll also hear songs from Americana sweetheart Elizabeth Cook, who can be counted on to mix the humorous with the poignant. Cris Jacobs makes his return to the show, earning plenty of new fans in the process. West Virginia fan favorites Quiet make their Mountain Stage debut, and things kick off with the funky creole sounds of the Royal Southern Brotherhood.  

In this week’s encore broadcast, eclectic Americana multi-instrumentalists Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys make their first visit to eTown’s solar-powered stage to share their forward-looking take on American roots music. Also joining us for the first time is Swedish/Icelandic female folk duo My Bubba who share their sparse and beautiful music, as well as stories about their experiences in circus school and side jobs as locomotive engineers.
