The “Fight for 15” is a national campaign to boost the income of low-wage workers. Locally, it’s being spearheaded by the Service Employees International Union, including hundreds of home health care workers, who, according to a visiting academic, have a long history of being undervalued.

   County supervisors endorsed a $15 per hour living wage for some county employees in June, but are facing continuing pressure to extend that benefit to include home health care workers.

  Rebounding real estate prices and an ultra-tight rental market are squeezing out some multi-generation North Bay families. Solange Echeverria reports on this quiet erosion of the region’s middle class workforce.

 Sonoma County is widely known for the quality and variety of foods and beverages grown and produced here. But a lot of people aren’t able to enjoy that bounty. A public forum Thursday afternoon hopes to refocus attention on the problem and what can be done to address it.

Union Organizing Graton Casino Workers

The Graton Casino in Rohnert Park has hired more than a thousand workers, creating many positions that may soon become union jobs. Which is exactly what the tribe expected to happen.
