This week on the BGS Radio Hour we’ve got new music from The Travelin’ McCourys and Parker Millsap, a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to play deep inside a cave in the Tennessee Mountains with Brandi Carlile, and we bring you music from some of this year’s nominees for the Americana Music Awards including Margo Price, Jason Isbell, and Molly Tuttle.

This week on Folk Alley, in hour one, an exclusive session recording from the 2018 30A Songwriters Festival featuring Gretchen Peters performing songs from her new album, 'Dancing with the Beast'; new music from Cicada Rhythm, Jeffrey Foucault, and Pharis & Jason Romero; plus favorites from John Prine, Leo Kottke, Kasey Chambers, and more.

Our guest this week on Art of the Song is Colorado singer/songwriter Darryl Purpose. After a time studying guitar, he went to Las Vegas as a teenager and began a career as a professional card player. He was soon known as the world’s fastest card counter. Banned from casinos on six continents, he still calls this the “only real job he’s ever had.” In 1996, Darryl began to tour nationally as a solo singer/songwriter. Eight years, six CDs and a thousand shows later, he was headlining the top folk venues and festivals across North America.
