This past April, President Donald Trump issued an order to Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke to review 27 National Monuments across the U.S. Six of those are in California. That includes Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument in Northern California. KRCB’s Tiffany Camhi reports supporters of the monument are doing everything they can to keep this public land protected.

County Sets Parameters for Chanate Redevelopment

  A commercial center, new county offices, major street improvements, a sizable park and a variety of new homes and apartments are anticipated in the redevelopment of 117 acres around Santa Rosa’s old Community Hospital buildings. County supervisors unanimously approved a big step toward that vision Tuesday afternoon.

  Due to steep slopes and other considerations, only about a third of the entire Chanate campus is deemed suitable for building. But those sites are ripe for higher housing densities, notes Supervisor David Rabbitt.

  Yet another  brewing legislative battle in Washington could change Californians' access to some popular public lands. Lori Abbot has a report.

  California State Parks manages two properties totaling 6600 acres in western Sonoma County. But the process of preparing a plan for that management is only now getting started.

Both Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Preserve and Austin Creek State Recreation Area are overdue to get General Plans. But it is still uncertain if combining those documents for the two adjacent properties is the best approach, says Michelle Luna, who heads the non-profit Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods.
