Roots

This week's episode of Mountain Stage with Larry Groce features the return of finest folk rock duo in the land, The Indigo Girls. And Wynonna Judd makes her first ever appearance on the show, winning over new fans in seconds with her band Wynonna and the Big Noise. Female roots rock troubadour Lydia Loveless also makes her Mountain Stage debut, and you'll also hear a set by singer, songwriter and guitar hero Patty Larkin.

They're all in live performance on MOUNTAIN STAGE, Saturday August 26th at 12:00 noon, here on KRCB-FM Radio 91!

This week on American Routes, we’ll ride along with fiddler and singer Alison Krauss on her journey through bluegrass and country, from small-town Illinois all the way to Nashville. Then it's Hurray for the Riff Raff, a New Orleans folk band fronted by Alynda Segarra, whose roots are in the Bronx. Segarra tells of her own time traveling as a teenager and what has inspired her to reconnect with her Puerto Rican heritage. En route we’ll hear tunes from Chuck Berry, Bob Wills, Nina Simone and Tom Waits.

In this week’s encore broadcast, eclectic Americana multi-instrumentalists Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys make their first visit to eTown’s solar-powered stage to share their forward-looking take on American roots music. Also joining us for the first time is Swedish/Icelandic female folk duo My Bubba who share their sparse and beautiful music, as well as stories about their experiences in circus school and side jobs as locomotive engineers.
