• In London, 3 gay men were attacked with acid as they left a popular gay club. 

• Here in the U.S., as Pride celebration season approaches, the cities of Phoenix, Arizona and Denver, Colorado, are installing rainbow striped crosswalks in several downtown intersections. 

• In California, the State Assembly Sub Committee on Government Organization unanimously approved a bill to permanently designate June as Pride Month in the state.  This just in time as the Sonoma County Pride celebration kicks off in downtown Santa Rosa June 1st through the 3rd.

• An Ohio judge took away custody of a 17-year-old transgender teen away from her parents because the parents refused to authorize hormone therapy based on their religious beliefs.  The teen will live with her grandparents and continue her transition from female to male. 

• NBC news reports Santa Rosa has the 2nd highest percentage of same-sex married couples in the nation. 

• Sonoma County Pride is planning this year’s celebration in downtown Santa Rosa, June 1 through 3 and they are looking for volunteers.

• Violence towards members of the LGBTQ community continues to rise and a second report by the Anti-Defamation League said that murders of cisgender gay and bi sexual men rose 400% last year. 

• More young people today are identifying their gender in terms other than the traditional “boy” or “girl.”  When they lack support, these gender-fluid youth also suffer more from mental health problems. 

• Here locally, the Sonoma County Pride planning committee announced that this year’s pride celebration is returning to downtown Santa Rosa.
