Women's History Month

This week on Folk Alley, in honor of Women's History Month, it's an encore broadcast of a show first heard in August 2017 featuring songs by artists who made NPR Music's 'Turning The Tables: The 150 Greatest Albums Made By Women' list. We spotlight our favorite folk, roots, and Americana artists who made the cut including: The Roches, Iris DeMent, Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Cassandra Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Nina Simone, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Gillian Welch, Mavis Staples, Joan Baez, Bobbie Gentry, and much more.

A special program for Women's History Month.

Stories about women’s work - it’s easy nowadays to roll our eyes at the quaint notion that “a woman’s place is in the home.” But is the real history more complicated than that caricature of bygone values? The History Guys will explore the relationship between women’s labor and their legal status as citizens. And they’ll ask… How has the value Americans place on the work that women do — in the home and beyond — changed over time?
Listen Sunday morning at 10:00 am on KRCB-FM Radio 91
