Before we get into kids and parents, we gotta go to just this one place - - - Happy Birthday, Pete! That's right... although Pete is no longer with us, the memory of his birthday lingers. May 3 is Pete's birthday! And I think it's time to renew once again our request for a posthumous Nobel Peace Prize for Pete Seeger! Until that happens, you'll have to be satisfied with a Pete Seeger song in this S.C.D. Extravaganza. So... the sixth song will be Bob Dylan's Forever Young on Bob's wonderful 4-CD album of everyone-you-ever-thought-of singing Bob's songs.

Your Average Abalone, Johnny Bazzano, is going to feature music from Appleseed records’ new 3 CD set of music celebrating their 21st anniversary.  It's called Roots and Branches.

There are 57 tracks from artists like Jimmy LaFave, Tom Russell, Pete Seeger, and Tom Paxton. Also, Jackson Browne, John Gorka, and Bonnie Raitt. Just to name a few.

This Week on American Routes - The Folk Revival Revisited: Pete Seeger, Judy Collins, Jim Kweskin, Jerry Garcia, Alan Lomax, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt and more!

The last time I looked, neither Donald Trump nor Jeff Sessions have managed to cancel Summer - - what a relief! On June 20th (actually the day before Summer begins, but so close as to make no difference), Something Completely Different will celebrate the change of season with many warm songs which anyone can record and take to the beach (not mandatory).

Guilty Pleasures:  Music We Love More Than We Can Say. We take a deep dive into the memory vaults to spin the tunes that we shamelessly love. From guilty pleasures, including a disco dance number, to confessional ballads like James Carr’s “Dark End of the Street” and songs of redemption ala Bobby Hebb’s “Sunny,” we shine a light on our heart’s true delights. Plus, we explore social protest anthems including Mavis Staples' "Long Walk to D.C.," Simon & Garfunkel's "Richard Cory," and a standout R & B version of Pete Seeger's "If I Had a Hammer" sung by Shreveport's Toussaint McCall.
